Navy Uncover IED Production Factory in Bayelsa Creeks
Operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship, code named NNS SOROH, have uncovered Improvised Explosive Devices, IED, production factory in the Sangama Creeks, Bayelsa State.
The production camp was detected by the special unit of the Navy, which trailed a suspicious speed boat conveying six persons to the creeks. The occupants on sighting the Navy, abandoned the boat and fled into the creeks.
Manhunt for the suspects led to the uncovering of the IED production camp, where items such as Electrical Wires, Car Batteries, 50 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition concealed inside a water container was recovered.
Additional materials recovered from the camp included chemicals, used for explosives and pipeline vandalism, as well as other incriminating items, which are in the custody of the Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH.
The Navy promised to intensify their patrol along the waterways and creeks in Bayelsa State, to ensure that the suspects are apprehended and prosecuted.
