Minister of Power Tasks NEMSA Board On Addressing System Losses, Electricity Accidents

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has linked the persistent challenges of electricity accidents, system losses, equipment failures, and network inefficiencies to weak compliance with safety and technical standards.

Adelabu, at the Inauguration of the Board of the Nigerian Electricity Management Service Agency, NEMSA, in Abuja, charged members of the Board to lead with renew vigor.

As the statutory body responsible for the enforcement of technical standards and regulations, NEMSA occupies a uniquely critical position within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry. It's role cuts across the entire electricity value chain from generation to transmission, distribution, and end-use installations.

At the Inauguration of members of the Board, appointed by President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Power said modern, reliable, and expanding electricity market cannot thrive without strict adherence to technical standards and zero-tolerance approach to substandard infrastructure.

To the members of the Board chaired by Ikechi Nwosu charged them to provide strategic direction, strengthen governance, and ensure that NEMSA operates with professionalism, transparency, and accountability.

Chairman of the Board, Ikechi Nwosu, assured the Minister of the determination of the members to take the bull by the horn and expedite actions towards effective service delivery in the power Sector.
