Wind Wrecks Havoc in Edo Communities, Destroys Houses, Electric Cables
Strong wind wrecked havoc in two communities in Edo State, destroying houses and electric cables.
Apparently, residents of Ughiole and Ubiane communities in Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo State, were devasted by the destruction of their homes by an overnight strong wind, which destroyed several buildings, as well as electric poles, cables, among others. Electricity supply has been cut off from the community.
Many of the residents were rendered homeless by the wind. It could not be ascertained how destruction was caused to their farm land as attention was focused on residence.
The residents, who were counting their losses, as many were rendered homeless, called on relevant agencies to come to their aid.
Destroyed Electric Poles, Cables and homes were visible in the communities as the elderly and young lamented over the tragedy.
The community head and several victims appealed for urgent interventionist actions.
Some youths in the community, interacting with this Reporter, called on the Edo State Government to come to their aid as the havoc is too much to bear.
As at the time of filing this report, the Edo State Government was yet to respond to the plight of the people, despite several messages by community leaders through the Commissioner for Environment.
Curiously, a timely intervention is expected in order to address the plight of the displaced persons and total power outage.
