Tension In North West, Arewa Youths Threaten 1m-Man Protest Of El-Rufai's Detention

There are emerging signs of tension in North West Nigeria, as Arewa Youths threatened to mobilise one million youths for mass protest of former Governor El-Rufai's detention by the federal government.

The threat emanated from Arewa Youth groups across the seven states in North West Nigeria, which include Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Sokoto states. The youths are rapidly becoming apprehensive and beginning to show signs of intense demonstrations, issuing a stern ultimatum to the APC-federal government.

In a significant escalation, Ibrahim Modibbo Sanusi, a prominent leader in the Arewa Youth Movement, demanded immediate and unconditional release of El-Rufai.

The protest is beginning to build up in youth cells across the North.

Maddibo admonished that failure to release El-Rufai will leave the youth with no choice but to organize a million-man march to the nation's capital and occupy the streets of Abuja until justice is served.

Supporters from Rigasa, the largest political ward in the country, gathered at the Western Bye-pass, a critical economic and transit artery, causing blockade and significantly disrupted traffic. The arena serves as a high visibility platform for expressing their demands.
