As Nigerians welcome the dry season which is always characterized with incident of fire Disaster, the Federal Fire Service, FCT Command, has embarked on training and Sensitization Programme for Nigerians on the adoption of safety measures during the season and beyond. The Initiative which involves sensitization and training of the use of Fire prevention equipment is the initiative of the Controller, Federal Fire Service, FCT Command, CF MS Anas.

Officials of the Command were at the Kugbo Timber Market in Abuja where traders and others residents of the area were lectured on the need to adopt safety measures and training on the use of Fire prevention equipment such as fire extinguishers among others. Addressing the gathering, Chief Superintendent of Fire (CSF) Akam Chinweuba, who is also the Unit Head, Inspection Investigation Enforcement (IIE), Federal Fire Service, FCT Command, said the objectives of the Programme is to teach the people how to use the fire prevention equipment and as well create aware on the importance of the sense as well as the need to be very careful.

He added that the exercise as directed by the Controller, Federal Fire Service, FCT Command, CF MS Anas, said the choice of the area was because of the materials they are dealing, which are Class A fire materials such as solid materials that are easily combustible. The Chairman of the Timber Market, Abonyi Augustine Ike, Alam Chinweuba, Unit Head, Inspection Investigation Enforcement, Federal Fire Service FCT Command and Abonyi Augustine Ike, Chairman, Kugbo Timber Market, Sound 2 back to back. Similar Sensitization and training programme had earlier been held for officials of the Nigeria Customs Service in Abuja towards curtailing the spate of fire Disaster in the country.

High point of the event was the training for the traders at the market on safety tips, the use of Fire prevention and fighting Equipment as well as the inspection of the market by officials of the Federal Fire Service FCT Command.
