Bandits On Rampage, Kill Man, 2 Wives In Benue
Bandits were on rampage in a rural community in Benue State, killing a man and his two wives.
Suspected armed herdsmen had invaded Asase-Ugbede community in NAkA Town, Gwer West Local Government Area, Benue State, at night hours. The invaders killed a man and his two wives, injured several others, while many were missing.
An eyewitness and resident of the community, Francis Ter, said the attack occurred not far from the local government headquarters in NAKA, where the assailants opened fire killing a man and his two wives. He said that one of the wives was butchered and was later confirmed dead at the hospital. He said that their bodies have been deposited at the mortuary.
According to the eye witness, the bandits fled before security operatives arrived the community. He noted that security has, however, been beefed up in the communities.
The command's image maker, DSP Edet Udeme, confirmed the terrorist attack in a telephone conversation with this Reporter.
He said that tactical teams and other security agencies have been deployed to fish out the perpetrators.
About three weeks ago, the Commissioner of Police, Ifeanyi Emenari, visited the community to assure residents of their safety; as NAkA town has been one of the worst hit areas in the state.
