Akpabio Clarifies Passage Of Electronic Transmission Of Result In Electoral Act Amendment
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has clarified the passage of electronic transmission of results in the amended Electoral Act, by the Senate on Tuesday.
According to Akpabio, the Senators unanimously passed the Electoral Bill, which "empowered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to electronically transmit election result, as well as, manual backup where and when necessary".
Also, the President of the Senate, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 2nd day of the National Economic Council, NEC, Conference at the State House, Abuja, articulated that reform is not an event. According to him, "It is a process. It requires courage patience and consistency."
Akpabio, in a brief statement highlighted: "Yesterday, I presided over Plenary, where my colleagues unanimously passed the Electoral Bill, which empowered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to electronically transmit election result as well as manual backup where and when necessary.
"I was also at the 2nd day of the National Economic Council, NEC, Conference at the State House in Abuja on the Renewed Hope National Development Plan, as a Representative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in company of my colleagues, where he said, "Let me be clear, reform is not an event. It is a process. It requires courage patience and consistency. The decisions we make here must translate to visible improvements in the daily lives of all Nigerians".
He stated that the Conference brought together policy makers and key stakeholders to discuss ways of setting Nigeria on a path of national growth and prosperity.
