IGP Disu Assures Of Safety Of Schools In Benue, Encourages Community Policing

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Tunji Rilwan Disu, has assured residents of Benue State of the safety of schools in the state.

IGP Disu, at the police officer mess in Makurdi, directed Officers and men of the Benue State Police Command to step up their game in the fight against crime and criminality and ensure the safety of the people.

The Inspector General of Police, represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, in charge of Training and Development, DIG Ishaq Mohammed, oversees the affairs of six other north central states, like, Plateau, Nassarawa, Kogi, Taraba, Kwara and Benue states.

The DIG said the IGP is very much concerned about the security situation in Benue and has sent him to assess the situation to enable him take action where necessary so as to build public trust and confidence.

The DIG called on traditional and religious leaders, including members of the public to adopt Community policing as the way to curb crime in our society.

On ensuring safer schools across north central zone, Nigeria, DIG Mohammed, said the Police is working in synergy with owners of schools to reduce the incidence of crime and the menace of abduction of school children.

The DIG further restated the call of the IGP to all commands to carry out hand shake patrols, particularly, simultaneous raids at the border area to forestall escape of Criminal elements.
