Wike Faces Renewed  Industrial Strife As FCT Teachers Declare Indefinite Strike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, faces renewed industrial strife as teachers in the FCT commenced industrial strife. 

Teachers in public primary and secondary schools in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on Monday, declared indefinite strike. The teachers immediately commenced industrial action, staying away from work in protest of unresolved welfare matters.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, FCT Chapter, accordingly, directed all members to proceed on strike on the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum, including additional 28-day grace period to he FCT Administration.

Meanwhile, the minimum wage of N70,000 has been implemented; but the union sustained demand for immediate release of a 2025 committee report on outstanding entitlements, review of the 2024 promotion exercise, and the removal of certain promotion hurdles.
