Tight Security As El-Rufai Appears In Court
There was tight security as former Governor Nasir El-Rufai appeared before the Kaduna State High Court on Monday for corruption trial.
El-Rufai is being tried by the ICPC, alongside Amadu Sule, over allegations of abuse of office, fraud, and conferring undue advantage. The court, however, struck out Amadu Sule from the case on Monday due to ill health.
Before entering the courtroom, El-Rufai discussed the African Democratic Congress convention with an associate, showing he is still active in politics, despite the trial.
He told journalist that his spirit will be present at the national convention.
He is further facing a separate 10-count charge at a Federal High Court, involving alleged abuse of office, money laundering, and fraud of N579.6 million and $1.1 million. The court will reconvene on Tuesday.
