Relegation battle for a “Big Six” club — unthinkable or inevitable?

Relegation battle for a “Big Six” club — unthinkable or inevitable?

It’s turning into a worrying chapter for Tottenham Hotspur, as the North London side’s struggles aggravates in the English Premier League.

Spurs’ Winless Run Stretches to 10 as Relegation Talk Emerges

Tottenham’s difficult season took another blow over the weekend, extending their winless run to 10 matches following back-to-back defeats in Igor Tudor’s first two games as manager.

The latest setback came against Fulham FC on Sunday, a result that further exposed the scale of the challenge facing the newly appointed manager.

With 29 points after Game Week 28, Spurs now sit 16th on the table — just two points above West Ham United, who occupy 17th place with 27 points.

What once seemed unthinkable is now being whispered more openly: could one of England’s traditional “Big Six” be dragged into a genuine relegation battle?

Tudor: “Physically, We Are Not in an Amazing Situation”

Igor Tudor, who officially took charge in February 2026 following the dismissal of Thomas Frank, did not shy away from criticizing his team’s overall performance.

After the defeat to Fulham, the Croatian coach questioned his side’s ability to attack, defend and maintain intensity.

“Physically, I believe, we are not in an amazing situation,” Tudor said.

“They have played lots of games in the last period without lots of players available and it made the physical condition of the team drop down.”

The manager pointed to fixture congestion and a stretched squad as key contributors to the club’s decline, suggesting that fatigue has significantly affected performance levels across the pitch.

 Relegation Fears in North London?

For a club of Tottenham’s stature, hovering just above the drop zone represents a dramatic fall from expectation. While North London may traditionally be painted red, the prospect of Spurs slipping into the relegation zone would send shockwaves through English football.

With 10 games without a win and confidence clearly fragile, the coming weeks could define Tottenham’s season — and potentially their status in the Premier League.

The question now is simple: can Tudor engineer a turnaround in time, or are Spurs facing an unthinkable fight for survival?
