Over 200 professional and amateur golfers from across the federation have converged in Kaduna for the third edition of the First Bank Golf Tournament, which takes off on Saturday at the Kaduna Golf Club.

Organizers of the tournament, at a press conference in Kaduna, expressed that the impressive turnout underscores the growing popularity of golf and the tournament’s rising profile on the national sporting calendar.

THE General Executive, Retail Banking (North) at First Bank of Nigeria, Idris Ibrahim, described the competition as part of the bank’s broader commitment to supporting sports development in the region. He noted that FirstBank has consistently backed other sporting disciplines, including tennis and football, with a focus on nurturing talent and encouraging wider participation.

According to Ibrahim, the tournament provides a valuable platform for both amateur and professional golfers to compete, network and gain exposure particularly, emerging players from northern Nigeria.

FirstBank has proudly supported golf in Nigeria for over 60 years, partnering with the Kaduna Golf Tournament since 2023 to promote the game within the local golfing community.
