FIFA 2026 WC: Two African Countries Fight For Quarter Final
Two African countries, both North Africans, Morocco and Egypt, scaled through the Round of 32 into the Round of 16, one match away from qualification for the Quarter Final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup co-hosted by the United Sates, U.S., Canada and Mexico.
Morocco eliminated the Netherlands in the Round of 32 knockout stage on penalty after 1-1 stalemate in the regulation and extra time.
Egypt defeated Australia on penalty, also, after 1-1 stalemate at regular and extra time. Egypt eliminated Australia on 4-2 penalty scores.
Morocco will be playing Colombia in the Round of 16 match qualifier for the Quarter Final, while Egypt will be playing Argentina, the defending champion.
Portugal will be up against Spain, France against Paraguay, Brazil vs Norway, Mexico vs England and U.S. vs Belgium, in other fixtures.
