Troops Arrest 4 Arms Suppliers in Kaduna, Shoot Fleeing Suspect

Troops, on duty in Kaduna State, intercepted four suspected gun-runners, obstructed shipment of weapons to bandits in Niger State. The suspects were caught at the Samaru Checkpoint in Zangon-Kataf LGA, after security personnel flagged their vehicle for inspection.

Soldiers discovered seven weapons in the vehicle,. The cache included four locally made AK-47 rifles and submachine guns. According to initial reports, the arms were purchased in Jos, Plateau State, and were being transported through Kaduna route to their final destination.

The operation did not go without resistance. As the troops moved in, one of the suspects attempted to flee the scene. In the process, he was shot and wounded. He was immediately given first aid before being taken into custody alongside the other three.

All four suspects are now being held at the Sector 7 Command for further investigation and questioning. Security officials said they will trace the supply chain behind the purchase in Jos and the intended network in Niger State to determine how widespread the operation is.
