Tinubu Fights Corruption: Adeniyi vs Gbajabiamila

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown zero-tolerance for corruption in Nigeria.

The controversy is a Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC; then, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director General; Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.

The crux of the controversy is allegation of N400 million paid through a middleman, purportedly to Gbajabimiala, an additional demand for N200 million to be appointed DG of PFIPC; then, additional allegation that the Chief of Staff purportedly demanded 48 per cent remission of PFIPC’s N27.4 billion budget allocation - take-off grant - purportedly rejected by the DG.

Gbajabiamila in a public statement declared the PFIPC a phoney entity, not an official government body. Accordingly, the COS declared PFIPC fake and fictitious agency.

President Tinubu ordered ICPC to investigate the controversy. Before the investigation commenced, the President inaugurated the Presidential Working Group on the National Policing Bill to prepare the legal framework for the implementation of state police.

President Tinubu appointed Gbajabimiala as Chairman of the Presidential Working Group; and
Adeniyi Adeyemi has been arrested by security operatives, and is in chains.
