Sani Slams CAF Over AFCON Title Controversy
Senator Shehu Sani has slammed the Confederation of African Football, CAF, over stripping Senegal of the 2025 AFCON title and awarding it to Morocco through a boardroom decision. He said that it is unfair and a threat to football integrity in Africa. Sani expressed the belief that matches should be decided on the pitch, not in meetings.
Shehu Sani, at home, met with grassroots football coaches in Kaduna, calling for stronger advocacy and investment in youth football development in Nigeria. He emphasized the need for reviving street football and making the sport a source of national pride and economic opportunity.
The meeting focused on harnessing young talent and creating pathways for players to reach national and international stages.
Sani praised the efforts of Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State in revitalizing football infrastructure and supporting local teams.
Sani expressed concern over the underrepresentation of northern players in the national team, urging stakeholders to provide more opportunities for talents from the region.
