A renowned activist, Senator Shehu Sani, has lamented the dual resolutions of the Senate on the Electoral Act Amendment relating to transmission of election results from the polling units.

Shehu Sani declared: “There is no ‘long grammar’, the Senate has approved both electronic and manual transmission, based on the motion raised by Senator Mungono and seconded by Senator Moro.”

The Senate had earlier rejected mandatory real-time electronic transmission of results from the polling units to INEC's server.

After much uprising and disquiet across the country, the Senate at an emergency plenary last Tuesday., endorsed electronic transmission of results, and simultaneously endorsed manual collation if the electronic process fails.
