Normalcy Returns To Lagos Airport, Fire Outbreak Contained
Normalcy has returned to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, after the inferno that engulfed the structure on Monday.
A coordinated multi-agency intervention, including Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, successfully extinguished the fire outbreak at old Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
Fire fighters from Isolo, Bolade, Ikeja and Alausa HQ Fire Stations, including Federal agencies, reinforced the emergency responders, coordinated by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, to combat the inferno.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire originated from the IT Server Room from one of the floors within the E-Wing of the Departure Lounge, with adjoining impact on the Radio Communication Room.
All the 12 personnel in the Control Tower were safely rescued, though, six others were rescued with injuries, but in stable condition.
Operations have since resumed at the airport.
